Critical Care & ICU

Where Every Second is a Medical Decision

At Elemecs Multispeciality Hospital, our Critical Care & ICU unit operates as the hospital's most intensive front line — a fully equipped, always-on environment built for patients when time, precision, and expertise matter most. With 38 ICU beds and round-the-clock specialist coverage, we are one of the most comprehensively resourced critical care facilities in Alappuzha and the broader Kuttanad region.

About the Department

Critical illness does not follow a schedule. Neither do we.

The Critical Care & ICU department at Elemecs functions as a multidisciplinary intensive care unit, designed to manage the full spectrum of life-threatening medical, surgical, neurological, and cardiac emergencies. Our approach is built on three principles: evidence-based treatment, coordinated specialist involvement, and continuous patient monitoring — so that the most vulnerable patients receive the highest standard of care, without interruption.

Our unit is led by trained Intensivists and Critical Care Physicians who are present around the clock. They work in close collaboration with super-specialty consultants across all departments, ensuring that every patient's treatment plan is comprehensive, not siloed. Junior resident doctors provide continuous bedside support, creating an unbroken chain of medical attention at all hours.

Alongside our physicians, a dedicated ICU nursing team — certified in BLS and ACLS — provides skilled bedside care with the precision that critical patients demand. The unit is further supported by physiotherapists, clinical dietitians, infection control specialists, biomedical engineers, and clinical pharmacists, all available within the ICU ecosystem.

At Elemecs, critical care is not just about stabilizing a patient — it's about giving every critically ill individual the real possibility of recovery.
