Dr. Varghese Babu is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist with extensive experience managing complex heart conditions, including heart failure, arrhythmia, and acute pulmonary embolism. He has independently performed over 1,000 coronary angioplasties and 3,000 coronary angiograms — both simple and complex — through radial and femoral routes, along with more than 60 structural cardiac interventions.

His expertise includes advanced, image-guided coronary procedures such as IVUS, OCT, and FFR, as well as difficult interventions like rotational atherectomy and bifurcation angioplasties. He is also skilled in pacemaker implantation — including dual/single chamber and leadless pacemakers — peripheral angiograms, and emergency procedures like pericardiocentesis and temporary pacemaker insertion.

Dr. Varghese most recently served as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Vijaya Hospital, Kottarakara, where he single-handedly developed the cardiology department in a two-tier city. He also brings academic experience as a former Assistant Professor in Cardiology at Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, where he was involved in both patient care and training cardiology residents.

He is a certified specialist in intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) based coronary procedures and holds memberships with the American College of Cardiology, the Cardiological Society of India, the Intervention Cardiology Council of Kerala, the Indian College of Cardiology, and the Society for Cardiovascular Intervention and Angiogram.
